Jefferson County, Colorado - In December 2007 Jeffco deputies arrested two suspects for stealing hundreds of pieces of mail from residential mailboxes in Evergreen, Morrison, Conifer and Pine. The suspects were apprehended in the 27000 block of Richmond Hill Rd. on December 22nd with more than 375 pieces of stolen mail, gift cards, cash, wine and other holiday gifts that had been sent through the mail. Both suspects were arrested for felony theft.
In the days that followed, Jeffco investigators executed search warrants on one of the suspect's vehicles and a storage unit in Denver. Investigators recovered several items that were eventually matched to items that had been reported stolen from recent residential burglaries in the county.
Investigators have recommended that the DA's Office file charges against
Michael Pantera
(DOB 10-15-80) and
Sophie Shafer
(DOB 08-19-89) for Second Degree Burglary (7 counts) and Felony Theft (7 counts). Pantera may also face additional charges for Possession of a Weapon by a Previous Offender.
Jacki Kelley is the public information director for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
