Sheriff blotter: Unlocked cars entered, GPS stolen

Incidents reported by Jeffco Sheriff

DEPUTY FINDS CARS ENTERED
A deputy on patrol just after 5 a.m. on June 19 noticed two vehicles parked on the 11900 block of West Dumbarton Drive that had signs of a vehicle trespass. Receipts were lying on the ground and both vehicles has their center consoles and glove boxes open and rifled through. The owner of both vehicles was contacted and said he had parked them, unlocked on the street and had come home around 11 p.m. June 18. A GPS unit valued at $450 had been stolen from one of the vehicles, along with music CDs.

$41 IN FOOD BILL UNPAID
On June 20, a deputy investigated a report of theft at an International House of Pancakes at an unlisted location. An assistant manager said a customer had dined there and claimed she had forgotten her wallet. Driver's license information was taken and the customer said she would return to pay the bill the next day. When she did not come in or return calls, the manager called the Sheriff's office. A deputy contacted the customer and told her to pay the bill. The customer called the restaurant and said she could possibly pay the bill next week and was told that was not acceptable. Later, the woman's daughter came to the restaurant and said she would pay the bill, totaling $41.20.

ATTEMPTED FRAUD INVESTIGATED
A deputy investigated an attempted fraud reported about 9:58 a.m. June 23. A resident of the 10800 block of West Fair Avenue said she had gotten an e-mail from a person about sending a package to her home business. The person asked her to do a survey at a local West Union office the previous week. The package contained two money orders for $980 each, and she was instructed to deposit them and send a return money order, minus $200 for completing the survey. The person who sent the money orders also called the resident. The money orders were taken into evidence.

WOMAN ARRESTED ON RESTRAINING ORDER
Deputies arrested a woman at a residence on the 7000 block of South Chase Court on June 22 for a violation of a restraining order. Because the woman appeared very intoxicated she was told to call someone to pick her up rather than drive her car parked outside. When she did not, she was arrested and resisted and kicked at deputies and had to be placed in restraints, according to the report. She was taken to the Jefferson County Jail.
