Jefferson County Clerk and Recorder
Pam Anderson unveiled a new on-line system that will display updated election results on the Clerk and Recorder's website throughout Primary Election Night. By visiting
www.votejeffco.com, anyone with Internet access can view detailed reports of the Primary Election results for each race as ballots are being counted.
"This new reporting system will add an increased level of transparency by giving our citizens and interested parties detailed information on the results of each race by precinct, as well as updated turnout numbers," said Anderson. "Citizens can also view countywide precinct maps that display the results for each race as well as the turnout percentages in each precinct," she added.
The web-based reporting system will allow visitors to download and save regularly-updated reports in several different formats throughout election night.
Anderson says the site will be updated approximately every twenty to forty minutes on Election Night, beginning with the first set of results from mail-in and early voting posted immediately after the polls close at 7 p.m. Results will be updated as each precinct reports to the Clerk and Recorder's Office, and the website will show when a precinct has completely reported its total from ballots cast on Election Day.
The web-based system is just one of the new components of a voter education and outreach program initiated by Clerk Anderson this year. This spring, the Elections Division sent an informational mailing informing voters about a recent change to state law allowing them to sign up as permanent mail-in voters. In response, over 164,000 Jeffco voters have signed up to be on the permanent mail-in list. Later this summer, Anderson and members of her elections staff will be visiting local fairs and other events throughout the county to answer citizen questions about voter registration and the conduct of elections.
"We are very pleased to provide this new service to the citizens of Jefferson County aimed at further strengthening voter confidence in the conduct of elections here in Jeffco," said Anderson.
