Sgt. Keith Maupin POW
Contributed by: Karen Groves/YourHub.com on 3/24/2006

There will be a vigil in honor of Sgt. Keith Maupin at the Veteran's Memorial in Morrison at noon on April 9, the date thatmarks the two year anniversary of his capture.

Roger Poe, is the quartermaster of VFW Post 3471 in Morrison. He said he'd been involved for close to10 years. His wife, Mary, was mayor of Morrison in 1998.

"We do several events, this is a special kind with a missing men table set up. We read the names of all the POWs and MIAs to acknowledge them. A serviceman will salute to a commander, and each of the officers will say, "not present," for the MIAs. We have a couple of speeches."

According to Poe, the VFW conducted a vigil last year for Maupin. "Since last year he's received two promotions, which makes us feel like the government knows something we don't know. He's gained two ranks. A lot of people think he was shoton June 28, 2004.Just the fact that he continues to grow in rank, makes us think somebody knows something. Or they don't know," he said on March 22.

Poe added, "We also have a POW ceremony in September which is a national POW-MIA day. It's usually on the third Friday of September, when those who are unaccounted for are acknowledged.
