Starting June 28, Bonfils Blood Center will kick off its annual summer donation campaign aimed to combat the historic seasonal decline in blood donations. Coloradans may be watching their spending in the current economic downturn, but luckily there is a way to help others without even opening your wallet. Making a difference in your community this summer should not be stressful, but simple and rewarding. You don't need to take out your checkbook or spend much time, because in less than one hour you can positively impact patients in need. Giving blood is the perfect way to help, because it's already inside you.
Each week, more than 3,300 blood donors are needed to meet the needs of our community and be prepared for unexpected events. Furthermore, blood donations can decline in June, July and August yet the need for blood products often increases during this time due to accidents, scheduled surgeries and medical treatments.
To show our appreciation for those who give a life-saving donation between Sundays, June 28 and Aug. 31, 2009, Bonfils will offer a sleek, eco-friendly, reusable water bottle.
With seven community donor centers and as many as 13 mobile blood drives each day, giving blood can easily become part of your summer routine not to mention that your blood donation can save and enhance the lives of up to three patients. Schedule an appointment to donate blood today by calling 303.363.2300 or 800.365.0006, opt. 2 or scheduling online at www.bonfils.org.
