Donations Needed for Seniors’ Resource Center Holiday Food Basket Program

Are you looking for a way to give a bit of holiday magic to your community this winter? Community assistance is needed for the Seniors' Resource Center Holiday Food Basket program.

The baskets provide all of the "fixings" for a delightful holiday meal, including chicken, stuffing, potatoes, yams, cranberry sauce, muffins and gravy. Non-perishable food items, to supplement the winter nutritional needs of seniors, are also included.

They will then be delivered on Wednesday, Dec. 16 to area seniors and adults with disabilities. In 2008, 125 baskets were distributed throughout the community.

Beginning Tuesday Nov. 3, food bins will be located at Evergreen- and Conifer-area Safeway and King Soopers locations. There will also be a food bin located at Seniors' Resource Center.

Please donate non-perishable food items, money or grocery gift certificates to purchase chickens and fresh produce. Monetary donations may be mailed to SRC-Evergreen (Holiday Food Baskets), 5120 Highway 73, Evergreen, CO 80439.

Volunteers are also needed to help collect and sort the food throughout the campaign, as well as to decorate and deliver the baskets.

SRC-Evergreen, a private non-profit agency lovingly known as the Yellow House, offers Adult Day & Respite, In-Home Care, Transportation, Care Management, Volunteer Services, Extension Services for individuals with developmental disabilities, the Yellow House Café, Meals on Wheels, and referrals to community partners.

SRC hopes you will contribute generously to this tradition of providing holiday food to our seniors. This could be the beginning of a cold holiday season and this project is a great way to give some holiday cheer to those in need. On behalf of your neighbors in need, Seniors' ResourceCenter thanks you for your support.

Please contact Chris at (303) 674-2843 for more information or to inquire about volunteering.
