The opportunity to host the best
Broncos party in town for a rowdy group of fans was too much to pass up for
Howard Murray, recreation manager for Arvada's Developmental Disabilities Resource Center (DDRC).
Murray
knew right away he had to enter the DDRC when he read about YourHub.com's Broncos Country contest
.The contest asked users to stake their claim to having the best place to watch a Broncos game.
As a result, the Denver Broncos will be sending Broncos Cheerleaders, mascot Miles and Broncos alum to the center during the Nov. 12 Broncos game against the Raiders.
"I saw (the promotion) in the Arvada YourHub.com paper. I thought it would be very beneficial for our consumers since they're such Broncos fanatics," Murray said. "Also, playing the
Raiders because that's such a big thing for them. They'll be very excite
d. "
The DDRC has thrown Broncos parties for its developmentally disabled clients for about 10 years. According to Murray's
story, many of the clients are unable to attend games because of cost or other barriers.
Murray said the clients haven't yet been informed
of the special guests that will be joining their party, but he can guess their reaction.
"Not that many people have heard about it yet because Monday is our day off," Murray said when contacted about the center's win. "The staff I've talked to have been excited. Our clients probably will be, too. In fact, it's probably good that they don't know yet because our phone would probably be ringing off the hook the rest of the week."
Murray, an admitted Raiders fan, said although he has been mainly converted to a Broncos supporter by all the fans surrounding him, the Nov. 12 game is still an exception.
"This is probably the only time I'm favoring the opponent," Murray said.
