Early childhood teacher dedicated
Contributed by: Keith Francis on 10/10/2006

Debbie Francis at Grant Ranch Middle School in Denver, is 20+ year Early Childhood Education (ECE) teacher. She has taught in many schools through out the Denver Public Schools System, starting in the "education state," Iowa. Mrs. Francis is the kind of teacher that doesn't just love young children, she nurtures and develops them into the type of children any Kindergarden teacher would welcome.

ECE is a national education program, that takes 4 year olds kids and brings them up to a level to successfully enter and complete Kindergarden. While Kindergarden is still optional in Colorado, ECE is also optional and also requires a tuition, often offset by hardship scholarships. ECE was first developed for "kids at risk." Those kids with learning disabilities and slow progress in their first four years. Testing often was required to screen kids from the ones that truly needs a hand up. Now ECE is open to anyone, and the word is out what a great educational program this is. Kindergarden teachers laud the accomplishments of Mrs. Francis and her ECE classes, which prepare these students to be successful in Kindergarten. They learn numbers, reading, how to write their name, colors, science and many other aspects, including how to get along in the classroom environment; a must for kids to stay focused.

Mrs. Francis is long time respected teacher in the DPS system. She has written national educational program with the local La Raza program to develop Latino programs for early childhood. Mrs. Francis is teacher that exemplifies the kind of teacher a child can love and a parent can appreciate.
