Ever thought about sailing but you just weren't sure where or how to get started here in Colorado? Of maybe your child has always wanted to take horseback riding lessons? There's likely some sport or outdoor recreation pursuit you or someone else in your family has always wanted to try but you just didn't know how to break into that activity. Have we got the event for you!
On May 12 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, South Suburban Parks and Recreation is sponsoring an Outdoor Recreation Jamboree. This open house event will be happen around the Carson Nature Center in South Platte Park, 3000 W. Carson Dr. in Littleton - just northwest of the intersection of Mineral Avenue and South Santa Fe Dr. There's a map link and more South Platte Park information at

The Jamboree aligns directly with an important element of fostering our South Suburban mission "to contribute to the full and meaningful lives of our residents [and others] by providing a variety of leisure services". Our Outdoor Recreation programs strive to introduce people of all ages to new outdoor recreation opportunities via participation in safe, fun, and educational programs. Among the wide variety of programs were offer and plan to have represented at the Jamboree will be archery, biking, canoeing, flyfishing, kayaking, hiking, horsemanship, nature classes for "kids" of all ages, and sailing.
Drop in anytime during the free Jamboree and meet some of our wonderful instructors and staff from the great recreation providers we work with to provide these awesome programs. We'll have refreshments and drawings several times throughout the event, awarding fun prizes to some lucky visitors who correctly complete a Jamboree Bingo Card.
