On Saturday, August 11, more than 20 students from Master Black's ATA Black Belt Academy competed in the ATA's (American Taekwondo Association) regional tournament held at the Ridge Rec Center in South Jefferson County.
This tournament was also host to the region's first XMA Team Synchronized Creative Form competition. Master Black's Team X Elite placed 3rd out of 6 teams!!
The competition was open for 3 years to adult. "My students learn so much when they compete, winning isn't everything, but trying builds courage and ultimately confidence." "With the ATA's philosophy that 'every kid is a winner' going to the tournaments is so much fun." Every child receives an award just for showing up and trying! Building self-esteem and confidence is part of the ATA's philosophy of tournament competition for children.
