HubCap: Let it stop, let it stop, let it stop
Contributed by: Brendan Leonard/YourHub.com   on 1/8/2007

Gone are the days when we would welcome a snowstorm here in the Denver metro area, as many of us did a few weeks back, stocking up on soup and hot chocolate and setting out 10 or 12 DVDs to help us weather the storm.

There's no White Christmas to celebrate. Now, we're just dealing with it. It's not melting, and every Friday, there's more, like your boss asking you to finish something up for him at 4:58 p.m.

During the first blizzard of this season, the one we thought we'd be calling "The Blizzard of '06" (until the other one arrived the very next week), it seemed like everyone who had ever heard of YourHub.com posted photos of the piles of snow in their area.

The next week, not so many.

This past Friday, Jan. 5, nobody was even taking photos of it. Now, YourHub.com users are concentrating on the psychological battle that is getting through the next week's snowstorm.

Need advice? Brita Andersdotter, of Commerce City, is happy to provide it. But it's a little more of a hard slap on the back than it is a warm hand to hold: " I feel confident advising whining Coloradans, who think their government is at fault for their discomfort when winter brings weather folks in other areas simply accept as part of life." Anyway, it goes on like that for a while. Kind of refreshing, actually.

Leonard Avery, of Northglenn, says this weather is the fault of people telling us about global warming. I'll let you read his explanation.

Carol King, of Lakewood, summarizes the whole thing quite nicely, wondering what the fourth blizzard will bring. Most likely, a string of profanity from me, Carol.

YourHub.com's Erin Williams reports on a group of Edgewater residents who are taking clearing the streets into their own hands. From the sounds of it, their method works a lot better than complaining about it on RockyTalk Live.

I posted photos of the third snowstorm on my blog Jan. 5. But I was trying out my new camera, too, so maybe that doesn't count. It's not the snow that's worrying me now, it's the hidden pockets of ice.
