On April 25, 2009 over 76,000 Rotarians from around the world will be doing wonderful hands-on projects in their community. What started as a joint district project in 2005-2006, has grown to encompass at least 26 Districts throughout the world.
Rotarians At Work (RAW) Day is a grass-roots program where the Rotary Clubs in each participating district select and perform hands-on projects in their local community all on the same day. In 2005-2006, Bob Watson, then the District Governor of that District 5340, envisioned a time when all Rotarians around the world would be working on community projects on the same day.
The benefits of the worthwhile program are many. In addition to providing community service the RAW Day activities re-energizes current members and attracts new ones. For more information on the day's worldwide projects visit www.rotaryatwork.org.
In Niwot, the local Rotary Club will be working at two locations. They will start with trail-head clean-up at the Niwot Loop Trail Parking area on 79 th St. and later move to 2 nd Avenue to take on local clean-up and servicing of the downtown area.
The club will aslo be involved in several other activities in Niwot in the coming. months. The club will be participating in the general Niwot Spring Clean-up on May 16th. Bring your odd-sized trash to the high school from 8-12 AM and you'll find help disposing of it.
Second, join us and other Boulder Rotary Clubs at the Boulder Creek Festival on May 23-25th. We will be serving a local brand of microbrew at the beer tent, with all proceeds to help Rotary projects.
Third, the Niwot Rotary will once again be joining forces with the Niwot Business Assn. to sponsor and run Niwot's own 4th of July parade. That one starts at 11 amthis year. The traditional pancake breakfastrun by Rotarian Bert Steele will be heldat the Niwot Market before the parade. Come early for the fun and good seat. If you would like to enter or help with the parade, contact our projects chairman, Matt Dolan, at
