The 4th of July parade in Niwot was a good, old fashion, home-town holiday celebration. Clearly a good family event and a lot of fun.
The parade started promptly at 10 am led by the
American Legion
color guard. It was followed by local dignitaries and political candidates. Then came the
Niwot Community Band
, various canine and equine participants, some classic and modern autos (including
Larry Murphy
in his retirement toy, a shiny red new Corvette), the
Niwot Grange
float, and finally, a huge contingent of local cyclists organized by
Dawn Buckingham
of
Niwot Cycles
. Several pictures of these participants are included.
The parade was run this year by the new
Rotary Club of Niwot
with financial support from the previous sponsors, the
Niwot Business Association
.
Matt Dolan
of
Edward-Jones
in Gunbarrel was the Parade Chairman. The new Niwot Rotary Club expects to reach sufficient size next month to formally charter the chapter on October 1 of this year. New members are always welcome and you can still be a chgarter memeber. Interested parties should try a weekly morning breakfast meeting at Treppedas on Thursdays at 7:15 am. Do it soon to get in on the full rewards of community service.
To raise funds for future events and community projects theclub is now selling West Slope peaches. The peaches are 10 pounds for $20 and will be delivered ito the
Niwot Market
in Cottonwood Square on August 16. Put your order in with any local Rotarian or call
Kirk Stewart
at 303-859-2313. You can order from him or he can give you several Rotarians and locations right in downtown. Order a case or two of these great, fresh peaches.
