Best Buy Co., Inc. is opening a new store in Northglenn.
At 11:30 a.m., Jan. 25 at the motel off 104th Ave. and Bannock St. the City of Northglenn hosted representatives from Best Buy, the Northglenn Urban Renewal Authority (NURA), as well as a number of eighth grade students and teachers from the nearby Hulstrom Options School as they celebrate the demolition of the America's Best Value Motel in order to prepare for construction of the electronics store.
An invitation was extended to Hulstrom Options School because they are arecent winner of a Best Buy Tech Award for $2,500. The school is also one of 250 nationwide to be selected as a finalist to compete for an additional Best Buy Tech Award worth $15,000.
The property is located within NURA boundaries.
"Best Buy is a great addition to the city and our community and is sure to welcome the top-notch retailer to the city. We feel our community has so much to offer new businesses and I am glad to see a retailer of this caliber making the choice to locate in our city," said mayor
Kathie Novak
.
In late 2006, Best Buy announced plans to open a store in Northglenn and purchased the property adjacent to I-25 and 104th Ave. The store should open mid to late 2007 although no specific date has been set.
Northglenn's limited land resources make redevelopment of declining properties a sometimes difficult task to accomplish. Yet it is important to keep the city's economy vibrant and thriving.
