WATER MAPS are usually the same scale as sanitary sewer maps and are also a necessary source of information when contemplating infrastructure requirements for proposed growth. Their accuracy is limited, as they are only a diagrammatic representation of an overall layout. They can be obtained at the City Engineers office or public utilities department and show the location and size of all water lines, valves, and fire hydrants. Calculations of the amount of pressure available in each area can be obtained from the City Engineers office or the municipal water authority. Water maps are useful because they help to determine the availability of water and the cost of providing it to a site, and they offer crucial information with regard to project feasibility.

Each member comes to public office with a personality shaped by experiences and associations. Every member also has preferences, convictions, interests, and has developed patterns of thought by which reasoning is done and decisions are made. Each has formed many relationships, (personal, social, professional - with people and groups.) Different personalities offer a commission different perspectives regarding the community’s future, and the sensitivity, perceptiveness, and understanding. Members may expand the depth and breadth of deliberation. Members must also know themselves - their own feelings, prejudices, and assumptions. A planning commission is a deliberative body composed of individuals representing the community as a whole. Nevertheless, these relations are VITAL. They help members to understand important issues in life and learn the needs, preferences, and interests of others in the community.
