Think you have career success? Think again
Contributed by: DR. SEAN REIF D.C. on 1/7/2008

Some have now become LOSERS in the transition to a different kind of economy. It increases the VULNERABILITY FACTOR. Among the victims are white collar managers who have achieved the comfortable life of reasonably affluent Americans. Most of these men are MIDDLE-AGED and many had reached VICE-PRESIDENTS. These people went to school, work in their companies 'every-day', beautiful wife, beautiful family.

People of who succeed in achieving success can never be psychologically prepared for the loss of it. Being let go, is a death, being discarded, divorce, but unemployment another MATTER.

The focus on the ½- empty bottle jeopardizes our "previous optimism" and "possibility thinking." We have not created a vision for the future. For the people who will surely be different, it can be better. The future is just beginning, and we have only started to find the path. The problems generated by a new kind of economy are relatively NEW, so many of their solutions are also NEW. Some answers of some questions are, at this point, unimaginable. BUT, the future promises opportunities created by the very turbulence.

The only preparation for dealing with unpredictability and risk is to deal with them continually. That means stepping up to what is now, REAL. We have to have that "attitude of gratitude" for the "hard times" because "ADVERSITY is the DRIVER for EXTRA-ORDINARY ACHIEVEMENTS."

Out of the PAIN, we are getting better and BETTER. We are getting STRONGER, as well as more FLEXIBLE. It got worse, and we got BETTER. I AM BECOMING OPTIMISTIC. Let us look to the future with HOPE, and GOOD-WILL, and a SMILE ON OUR FACE.

Because, "Smile and the World, Smiles with you."

Does everybody know this Song?

"Smile and the world Smiles with you,
Sing a song, don't be weary just be cheery all day long,
Whenever your trials your troubles and your cares,
Seem to be more than you can really bear,
Smile and the world smiles with you,
Sing a Song."

Thank you,
Dr. Sean Reif D.C.

“Into every successful life there comes at a turning point which may be called a great awakening. A person who has lacked aspiration, purpose, plan, energy, initiative, or self reliance, then comes to a sense of deeper significance of his own life and pushes forward to amazing achievement. He no longer requires constant prodding by others. He is on his own and will set harder tasks for himself than anyone could set for him. To produce this great awakening is the highest art of the teacher whether parent, preacher, coach, or school master.”
