IF DRAGONS, LAKES AND SKYLINES ARE YOUR SPECIALTY,
THE COLORADO DRAGON BOAT FESTIVAL REQUESTS YOUR CREATIVITY!
Colorado Dragon Boat Festival Announces First-Ever 2008 Commemorative Poster Design Contest
Coloradoans can flaunt their artistic flare with the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival's (CDBF) first-ever 2008 Commemorative Festival Poster design competition. The winning poster will be featured as part of the annual festival, which will be held July 26 -27, 2008, at Sloan's Lake Park in northwest Denver.
Celebrating its 8th year, the CDBF is a free family-friendly festival highlighting Colorado's rich Asian Pacific American heritage. The two day celebration showcases an array of traditional and contemporary performing arts, cultural customs, cuisine and a marketplace of unique and hard-to-find arts, crafts and vendors. This year, the CDBF will host the 2008 American Dragon Boat Association Regional Races, bringing national and international dragon boat teams together to compete in division races on both days.
The winner of the CDBF poster design competition will be honored as the first-ever commemorative poster artist, and will see this design used for various collectible merchandise applications including home décor framed prints, festival t-shirts and marketing materials.
The submission deadline is Monday, March 31, 2008 and winners will be announced Thursday, May 1, 2008. Three winners will receive cash awards. The first place winner will receive $500, second place $300 and third place $200.
All are invited to participate in the competition, regardless of age, experience or technical skill. To enter is simple! All designs must include the following text copy: Colorado Dragon Boat Festival, July 26-27, 2008, Denver, Colorado. Entries must be submitted DIGITALLY in either JPG, TIF or PDF format. Along with the poster design, participants are to include their name, address, e-mail, phone number, a $10.00 entry fee (payable by check or money order to CDBF), personal artist statement and competition submission statement. One entry per person. Send entries to: CDBF, 605 Parfet Street #200, Lakewood CO, 80215, USA. For more information, visit www.cdbf.org or email: info@cdbf.org
The Fine Print:
Digitally reproduced images of the artists' original artworks supplemented digitally with required text copy additions are encouraged, acceptable and standard. Artist's signature, logo, company stamp, or similar identifying mark may or may not be allowed on work depending on submitted signature, logo, stamp, etc. Entries will be evaluated based on appeal, content and marketability. The decision of the judges is final. CDBF reserves the right to use the winning image on miscellaneous advertisement mediums, publicity posters, press releases, T-shirts and many other CDBF related items. The winning entry will become full property of CDBF, with all rights and privileges inherent thereto. CDBF reserves the right to resize or otherwise alter the winning entry before using it in promotional and merchandising materials, or to not use any submitted competition materials.
