Firefighter collect funds for the MDA

This August 31-September 3, 2007 fire fighters from Local 2203 (the union of the North Metro Fire Rescue District fire fighters) will be out in the community collecting monies for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Local 2203 members are proud that all of its on-line personnel will spend time specifically working to help children with this deadly condition. Fourteen MDA families are currently supported by North Metro fire fighters' efforts. Donors should know that monies collected go directly to Colorado families.

Fighting Muscular Dystrophy can be costly-any size donation is a great help! One minute of research costs $63. The rising cost of medical care, medicine and medical equipment are at an all time high and affect a family's income greatly. Consider this: a basic wheel chair can cost around $2,000 and a motorized unit is typically over $10,000.

Fire District residents that would like to help through a monetary donation can find fire personnel collecting with their fire boots at the following locations from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. over this Labor Day Weekend:

· Northglenn Mall

· Intersection of: 104 th and Melody

· Intersection of: Chase and 1 st

· Broomfield Home Depot

· Intersection of: W. Flatiron Circle and Interlocken Blvd. (The intersection just north of McDonald's)

Formed in 1946, the district now covers 115 square miles with a population of approximately 90,000 people including the City and County of Broomfield, the City of Northglenn and unincorporated areas of Boulder, Adams and Jefferson Counties.
