Northglenn, Colorado, May 5, 2008 - The 20 th annual Kids' Fishing Derby will be held on
Saturday, June 7, 2008at Webster Lake. The lake is located at E.B. Rains, Jr. Memorial Park (117 th & Community Center Drive) in Northglenn. The Derby will be split into six age categories and all anglers' ages 2-14 are welcome.
The Kids Fishing Derby is a long standing tradition in the City of Northglenn. Over the past 19 years, on the first Saturday in June, parents bring their children to Webster Lake and compete for the biggest catch of the day. The events keeps growing year after year and creates a great environment for kids to fish or learn how to fish and spend quality time as a family. "The community of Northglenn is committed to creating opportunities where families and kids can reconnect and experience the joy of fishing together," said the Mayor of Northglenn, Kathy Novak. Kids are divided into seven age groups and one winner is selected from each age group. Sign in begins at 8:00 AM, with fishing from 8:30-10:30 AM. Awards will be presented to the six age categories and the overall fish winner at 11:00 AM. There will be refreshments, entertainment and prizes for all participants, so come join the fun!
Registration is going on now at the Northglenn Recreation Center and the entry fee is $4. Space is limited and registration is on a first come-first served basis, so hurry in to secure a spot. The registration deadline is Friday, June 6 at 7:00 PM or when all spaces are filled. You can also register online at
