Northglenn, CO --- Two Northglenn students have made it to the Adams County level of the Metro Mayors and Commissioners Youth Award program. The program recognizes youth who have faced some type of adversity and turned things around through strength, courage, and perseverance. The MMCYA program is a three-tiered process; where students nominated to the program and are acknowledged at a municipal level, then proceed to the County level and if selected at that level continue on to compete at the State level.

Northglenn High School students Daniel Cowan and Danielle Missey now will both proceed to compete at the state level of the MMCYA competition.

Kim McKenna writes, "Although Daniel lost both parents over the last five years, he is active in the community and is a volunteer for the Big Brother Big Sister Literacy Program. He assists younger students with their reading and has grown into a responsible and productive member of our school and community."

Danielle Missey has overcome the loss of a sibling and Anjela Schwab her nominator writes, "She has great strength and commitment. Danielle works very hard academically and her attendance is amazing."

Both students will be recognized at the 21st Annual Adams County Metropolitan Mayors and Commissioners Youth Awards Banquet to be held March 16. The City of Northglenn congratulates and salutes the Northglenn students and wishes them both the best!
