Yazzie Alonzo age 8 has been chosen as a State Finalist in the National American Miss Colorado Pageant to be held July 24-July 26 at the beautiful Marriott Denver Tech Center Hotel in Denver. The pageant Miss Alonzo is in is the Jr Pre Teen which is held for girls ages 7 through 9.
The winner of the pageant will receive a $1,000 cash award, the official banner, a bouquet of roses and air transportation to compete in the National pageant in Disneyland in California. Pageants are held for girl's age 4 to 18 in five age groups.
The National American Miss pageants are dedicated to celebrating America's greatness and encouraging that greatness in it's future leaders. Each year the pageant awards thousands of dollars for scholarships and prizes to recognize and assist in the development of young women nationwide. All activities are age-appropriate and family oriented.
The National American Miss pageants are for "Today's Girl" and "Tomorrow's Leaders." Emphasis is placed on the importance of gaining self-confidence, learning new skills, learning good attitudes about competition, and setting and achieving personal goals. The pageant seeks to recognize the accomplishment of each girl while encouraging her to set goals for the future.
Miss Alonzo's activities include the Gifted and Talented program at Malley Drive Elementary. Miss Alonzo's is a very active young girl who loves to do Cheerleading. Yazzie is on a level 4 senior team called Diamond Elite All Star where they won 1 st place at Nationals in February. For the past three years Yazzie has been on the Junior Broncos Cheerleading squad were they are able to perform at three games a season. Yazzie is also in Gymnastics, where at the present moment, she is ranked at level 3. In the community, Yazzie is very involved with her Girl Scout troop from Northwood unit and here is where you will also find Miss Alonzo doing many community outreach projects with them.
Yazzie Alonzo also enjoys helping cook, hanging out with her family, helping her handicapped brother with whatever his needs, jumping on the Trampoline and just being with her friends and her dog QT.

We are all so Very excited for her to be able to experience the things she does. She is starting to make her path in the world. Her Goal is to be a doctor and to be able to find a cure for sick children, which has hit close to home for her with her brother.
We are so very proud of her day in and day out for being so young and yet able to focus on her future so early in age. I beleive she will truly make a difference in our world!
