Contributed by: DR. SEAN REIF D.C. on 7/21/2008

Dr. Sean Reif D.C. participated in a 2- day, post-graduate symposium concerning Spinal Injuries from Auto Collisions presented by Dr. Daniel P. Dock D.C., chiropractic neurologist / chiropractic orthopedist and Rotarian from Duluth, Minnesota.

Topics covered included lumbar spine strain and sprain, facet syndrome, lumbar disc injury, disc herniation, disc extrusion & prolapsed, disc bulge, lumbar disc symptoms after surgery, IVF compression of the nerve, degeneration of the lumbar spine, spinal stenosis, osteoporosis, compression fracture and coccyx conditions.

In conjunction with these subjects, patient history questions after the auto collision, examinations for the cervical spine, thoracic spine, and lumbar spine, re-examination protocol, spinal care plan, flair-ups and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder were covered.

Additionally, Dr. Reif tested and demonstrated knowledge and skills of Basic Life Support CPR for victims of all ages. He learned how to use an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED). He learned how to relieve choking from a foreign body obstructed airway. These skills enable one to recognize emergencies such as sudden cardiac arrest.

Sudden cardiac arrest is a leading cause of death in the United States. Circulation ceases and vital organs, such as the brain and heart, do not get enough oxygen. Rescuers must activate the *911 emergency response system. Effective CPR is the best treatment for a cardiac arrest patient until a defibrillator and advanced care arrive.

Dr. Sean Reif D.C., has been in private practice at Thornton Family Chiropractic on the southeast corner of 104 th & Colorado Boulevard serving the citizens Thornton, Northglenn, Henderson, Brighton, Commerce City, Federal Heights, Westminster, Broomfield, and outlying unincorporated Adams County for 15 years using those "tried and true" techniques rigorously taught with excellence at Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa.

Dr. Reif said, "I see patients from the 98- year lady to the 3- day old baby, and every man, woman, or child in between. I adapt my technique to the patient using no more or less force needed to make the adjustment. I am a "Big-Guy", and I do specialize in adjusting other "big guys". There is great satisfaction in being able to do what others are incapable or unwilling. Most of all I want to express that I am so grateful for this community to support me and my family for these years while exercising my talents and abilities toward my mission and purpose."
