Adams County sheriff Doug Darr announces the graduation of four new recruits from the Jefferson County Law Enforcement Academy.
On Dec. 23, 2005, at a graduation ceremony hosted by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Darr presented Brett Eskam, Samantha Rogers, Daniel Seier and Anne Strasburger with their Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Certification.
After receiving their POST Certification, Darr administered the Oath of Office to the four new deputies, who were officially sworn in as deputies with the Adams County Sheriff's Office.
Darr said, “This is an extremely important and exciting day for the four new recruits.” As he addressed them he reminded them of the importance of character, integrity, and honesty and said, “You are joining the ranks of the finest profession in America, be proud of your accomplishments, have prosperous careers, and most of all serve and protect the citizens of Adams County.”
Although the deputies have completed their basic training, the real training and experience has just begun. The deputies are assigned to the jail division and will begin their in-house training in the following weeks. After they complete their in-house training, which is approximately three months long, they will receive their permanent assignments.
The law enforcement academy, run by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, is a 20-week program designed to prepare graduates for a career as a certified law enforcement officer. The academy trains officers from more than 15 municipal, county and state agencies and is recognized as a leader in law enforcement instruction statewide. Academy graduates go on to work as deputy sheriffs, police officers, fire/rescue personnel, CBI agents or state gaming agents throughout Colorado.
