After 34 years of service to the community, North Metro Fire Rescue is announcing the retirement of Fire Fighter Paul Venette. Paul began his career in January of 1974 and has seen the Fire District evolve and expand. His last day on-duty was January 2, 2008.
Paul had a passion for fire fighting and began volunteering for Lafayette Fire in 1971, prior to becoming a career fire fighter for West Adams County Fire Department (West Adams County Fire Department later became what is now known as North Metro Fire Rescue District). Paul successfully completed a Fire Science Technology Program at the Community College of Denver in 1978 as well as later attended courses at Red Rocks Community College.
Over his career Paul assisted with various special assignments including teaching classes to North Metro academies and community groups, maintaining Fire District fire extinguishers, and fixing station deficiencies or necessary equipment. Colleagues of Paul have stated that while he might not have taken on the "big, flashy projects" Paul was always working on the smaller, detailed projects. His dedication wasn't unnoticed and he was a respected part of his crew and department. Paul received two "Special Service to Citizens Awards" during his career.
Paul resides in Brighton, Colorado with his wife Anita. North Metro Fire Rescue District thanks Paul for over three decades of service to the community and his colleagues.
