Northglenn, CO - The City of Northglenn is looking for volunteers who like water and working with kids for two events.
First is an educational Water Festival for 800 Northglenn, Thornton and Westminster fourth and fifth-grade students, where they will learn about water conservation, treatment and their water supply.
The Water Festival is 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 30 at Front Range Community College, 3645 West 112th Ave., in Westminster. Volunteers will need to attend a pre-event orientation at 3:30 p.m. May 29, also at FRCC.
Help is needed for setting up, clean-up, school bus parking, helping teachers and students find their classes and a fire hydrant painting contest.
This event is sponsored by the cities of Northglenn, Westminster and Thornton.
The second event is the City of Northglenn's Annual Kids' Fishing Derby on Saturday, June 7.
The City expects 300 anglers from ages 2 to 14 to hit the shores of Webster Lake at E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park, 11801 Community Drive, and is looking for help from 6 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Volunteers are need to set up, help with handing out prizes, register participants, measure fish and then clean up. People can work an early shift, late shift or the entire day.
Those interested in volunteering or with questions can contact Kae Madden, Community Engagement Manager for the City of Northglenn, at 303-450-8949 or kmadden@northglenn.org
Since both events involve children, volunteering with these projects require a CBI background check with the City, at no cost to the volunteer.
The deadline to volunteer for either project is May 20.
