The City of Northglenn is providing a free one-stop spot to get rid of unwanted items and vehicles that are just taking up space.
The City is hosting the Rubbish Rush and Vehicle Round-up from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at the Maintenance and Operations Facility, 12301 Claude Court.
"The main reason (for the event) is to assist homeowners in getting rid of unwanted items for spring clean up activities," said Tom Carlson, a neighborhood service officer.
Carlson said the City wants to make it as easy as possible for citizens to have their homes comply with city codes.
"Our goal is to work with the community and to provide assistance when we can to help bring compliance," said Carlson, who helped organize the event. "Our goal is not to collect fines."
All vehicles will be accepted - working or not - but they must be intact. That includes cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats and recreational vehicles. A title for the vehicle also must be provided.
Free towing is available for non-working vehicles. Call Nathan Buxton at 303-280-7860 by June 12 to schedule a pick up.
As part of the Vehicle Round-up, the City is working with Catholic Charities and Cars for Charity. Carlson said owners will receive a $500 tax-deductible receipt upon delivery. If the car earns more than $500 at auction, the owner will receive another receipt for the difference.
The Vehicle Round-up is open to anyone - it's not limited to Northglenn residents.
However, the Rubbish Rush is limited to Northglenn residents, and requires provide proof of residency.
The City will have dumpsters on site and anything can be thrown away except tires, chemicals, paint, batteries and appliances that contain Freon.
If June 14 is already booked up, Carlson said another Rubbish Rush and Vehicle Round Up is planned for mid-September as part of Code Awareness Week.
For more information, contact Buxton at 303-280-7860 or visit www.northglenn.org.
