Contributed by: City of Northglenn Public Communications on 5/30/2008

City to Honor Soldiers in Fight Against Terror
During the 4th of July celebration, the City of Northglenn will express its gratitude to members of the U.S. Armed Forces who have served in the war against terrorism.
This tribute to our military heroes honors those soldiers who have risked their lives in the interest of preserving our freedom.
Please give us the name of your Northglenn family member or friend that you would like to salute for their services.
The deadline for nominations is June 20. Contact Jenni Murphy at jmurphy@northglenn.org or call 303-450-8904 for more information.

Search on for Best Tree in Northglenn
For the third consecutive year, Northglenn is searching for the "Most Magnificent Tree." Last year, more than 30 trees were nominated for the award. Ray and Terlyn Rourke's American Elm tree and Ray and Jewel Shield's Silver Maple tree were the recipients of Most Magnificent Tree awards.
The Most Magnificent Tree Award is given to a tree anywhere within the city limits that has beauty beyond compare. The tree can be located on City-owned property, a park or open space, so do not limit your selection to your own yard. A team of judges will take a look at the nominations and determine the winner from all entries.
The deadline for the nominations is July 18. The award will be given in August.
Submit your tree location to Jenni Murphy by calling 303-450-8904 or e-mail her at jmurphy@ northglenn.org. The winning tree will receive a plaque to wear proudly on its trunk designating its notoriety and magnificence for all to see.

Judges Look for City's Top-Notch Yards
The Northglenn Neighborhood Beautification judges are looking for beautiful yards for the months of June, July and August.
The judges are also searching for Yards of the Month and Waterwise Yards of the Month.
This year it has been suggested that we add a new award: Most Improved Yard.
Residents planning improvements to their landscaping should contact Jenni Murphy, 303-450-8904 or jmurphy@northglenn.org so that the judges can monitor the progress of your landscaping project.

Northglenn Turning 40
The City of Northglenn is inviting the public to a meeting from 6:30 to 8 p.m. June 16 at the City Council Chambers, 11701 Community Center Drive, to brainstorm ideas to celebrate 40 years since incorporation. Contact John Eisel at 303-450-8930 or jeisel@ northglenn.org for any questions or comments.
