North Metro Fire sending personnel to South Dakota
Contributed by: North Metro Fire Rescue on 7/14/2006

Northglenn/Broomfield, CO-Three North Metro Fire Rescue personnel and a Brush Attack truck have been sent to assist with wild land fire fighting efforts in Spearfish, S.D. These full-time wild land fire, structural fire and emergency medical trained personnel will be working for an unknown time frame with a maximum initial commitment of two weeks.

North Metro responded to the request for a "severity assignment" from the North Great Plains Interagency Dispatch in Ft. Collins. The team of three firefighters left early this morning to report into the Northern Hills Ranger District Office located in Spearfish, South Dakota. The crew will stage at this location and be dispatched out to anticipated fires that have been cropping up throughout South Dakota and Wyoming due to the extreme fire danger in the region.

Local news media outlets in South Dakota reported numerous fires that started late July 12 as dry lighting hit the ground. While these fires have been contained, the South Dakota Division of Wildland Fire is preparing for more as the drought and high temperatures continue.

North Metro Fire Rescue is dedicated to your quality care. North Metro Fire Rescue provides fire protection, emergency medical services, hazardous materials response and rescue services to their community. Formed in 1946, the district now covers 115 square miles with a population of approximately 90,000 people including the City and County of Broomfield, the City of Northglenn and unincorporated areas of Boulder, Adams and Jefferson Counties.
