Northglenn PD may assist with Thornton DUI check

The Thornton Police Department will be conducting another round of DUI checkpoints as part of a state-wide program called Checkpoint Colorado 2005. This will be the fourth and last checkpoint of the summer, and will be held at 104th Avenue and Grant Street the evening of Sept. 2.

This time the Thornton Police Department will be assisted by offices from the Colorado State Patrol, Adams County Sheriff's Department and possible the Northglenn and Federal Heights police departments.

The DUI checkpoin will be stationary in an attempt to deter people from driving while impaired. Individuals passing through the DUI checkpoints will receive materials regarding alcohol and drug laws in Colorado.

The overall goal of conducting DUI checkpoints is to reduce alcohol involved traffic accidents, and to make the roads sager fo those who live in the City of Thornton.
