DENVER -- The Colorado Association of Commerce and Industry (CACI) has endorsed
Rep. Val Vigil (D-Adams County) who is running for the Senate District 24 seat. Rep. Vigil has served eight years in the House and is unable to run for the House again due to term limits.
"The CACI Board of Directors welcomes the opportunity to take a stand in a tough primary race where there is an opportunity to support a proven pro-business legislator," said
Chuck Berry, President of CACI. "Rep. Vigil understands and supports the issues that impact the business community," Berry said.
Rep. Vigil is a financial consultant and a businessman who chaired the House Finance Committee and is also a member of the Appropriations Committee.
Rep. Vigil carried HB06-1312 for CACI, important law which allows businesses to seek written and binding rulings from the Department of Revenue about the potential tax implications of business transactions.
The seat is currently held by Sen.
Lois Tochtrop, who was appointed to the seat to fill a vacancy, and has carried a number of anti-business bills.
"CACI applauds Rep. Vigil for his work with both parties to help secure Colorado's economic future and its citizens' financial well-being through good public policy,"
Donnah Moody, Vice President of Government Affairs for CACI, said. "His leadership in the legislature shows that he recognizes a strong business sector means more economic opportunities for everyone in Colorado."
"It is critical that business interests are protected in the public policy arena and Rep. Vigil is the only candidate in this race who can fulfill that task," Moody said.
