Difficulty teaching problems solving skills commission

In the area of Planning & Development, one of Northglenn's difficulties is teaching good problem solving.

Planning Commissioners who cannot comprehend the written problems are at a big disadvantage.

Then, the application of logic to the situation requires a "higher-order" thinking skills that are not well-developed.

Add this, to the possibility of multi-step problems, and off we are building "car-washes" again on prime real-estate. Call it a place holder.

It is much easier to sit up there on you Highness to lecture, to do a hearing without anyone present and vote UNANIMOUSLY with no meaningful discussion.

It is much harder to try to think about what would be a good way to engage citizens and develop their understanding. Once we become better thinkers, problem solvers, then you surely, would be willing to put up with your initial discomfort on changing our ways.

I believe ongoing communications are critical; citizens need regular communication with Northglenn city leaders.

NOBODY’S GAIN: Nobody gains from a vacant building, least of all other business owners in the area. It is time to act in partnership with current and prospective business owners who are looking to stay in Northglenn, instead of standing back wringing our hands in exasperation, as we have in the past.

“Mr. Chairman. I regret any improper remarks uttered in the heat of debate, and I apologize to the member, and the body.”

“We must be the change we wish to see in this world.”
