Low interest in elections

There are reasons why local municipal elections attract relatively low interest, ranging from apathy to a lack of understanding about the power that City Council has over day-to-day operations of Northglenn and the quality of life within the city.

As a fact, City Council makes more decisions each year that have a direct impact on Northglenn citizens than the U.S. Congress. Unfortunately, few people will take the time to vote.

So, between now and November 3, do a little research in your Ward and learn a little about the candidates. We take our right to vote for granted and there is no excuse for failing to cast a ballot.

The point is . . . That the more people who show up, the more reflective of the entire community the results will be.

Success or failure will be conditioned upon the way in which the average man, the average woman, does his or her duty, first in the ordinary, everyday affairs of life. Next, in those great occasional cries which call for heroic virtues. The average citizen must be a good citizen if our republic is to succeed.
