Law enforcement groups from throughout the metro area descended upon E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park in Northglenn for the North Area Law Enforcement Officer Memorial Candlelight Vigil on May 15.
This is the fifth year Northglenn has held the event.
Members of the Northglenn Police Department, Federal Heights Police Department, Denver Police Department, Denver Sheriff's Office, Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Brighton Police Department and Colorado State Patrol presented wreaths while higher-ranking officials for those groups read the names of those who have given their lives in the line of duty for the respective groups.
Northglenn's lone officer killed in the line of duty was E.B. Rains Jr., who was shot in 1984. Webster Lake Park was renamed in his honor in 1985.
Cmdr. Beth Carmosino, who knew Rains well and tried to keep him alive after he was shot, spoke on his behalf and on behalf of other officers who have given their all.
