Begging for Help from Your Group
Contributed by: Suz Mitchell-Elsasser on 10/3/2006

Are you a group looking for a Make A Difference Day project; a class, school, or club looking for a volunteer project; or a scout leader needing a community service project? If you are, Warm Hearts-Warm Babies is here to beg for your help.

Warm Hearts-Warm Babies is a non-profit organization working to help premature and newborn babies in Colorado. Cold winter weather is right around the corner and many babies are leaving the hospital to live in cars, shelters, on the streets or in homes with no heat. We provide clothing and blankets to these infants free of charge.

Here is where your group can help. Warm Hearts-Warm Babies needs groups to hold diaper drives, baby showers (baby item drives), cut fabric into kits for sewing, sew-a-thons and yarn drives.

A scout leader asked how a group of young girls could help our organization? She was given the idea of holding a penny drive and then having the girls figure out what to purchase with their funds. This could be made fun for the girls by turning it into a baby shower with games and cake when they donated their items.

We are in great need of a group or two, high school age or older to donate a block of time to cut fabric. In many cases our volunteers that sew are not able to cut the fabric because of health or space issues.

If your group would be able to help or have questions please contact Warm Hearts-Warm Babies at 303-919-5413 or at info@warmheartswarmbabies.org .
