Diamond dwellers strike it rich
Contributed by: Joe Farrell on 6/29/2007

There are many baseball diamonds scattered around the country. Each diamond promises riches for those that take the time to share their passion for the game. There you will find the Diamond Dwellers giving of their time, teaching the game they love to the next generation of Diamond Dwellers.

You start out as the coach for your son or daughters T-ball team. Smiles abound as they learn the basic thrill of hitting, catching & playing the game you have come to share with them. The kids improve & move up through the programs & soon are developing skills that allow them to enjoy the game even more. You take pride in knowing they too are becoming Diamond Dwellers.

There is a feeling of community you develop through the years of being at the diamond. The Diamond Dwellers are the parents that have given the untold hours from their daily schedules to get their kids to the diamond for practices & games in cold & windy conditions. They are always there to cheer on their diamond in the rough. Diamond Dwellers are on both sides of the fences as coaches & fans. They are there to support their kids & the teams they play for. You develop lifelong friendships at the diamonds & share common memories that can never be swept away. Diamond Dwellers unite in their love of their kids, the game & the lessons learned through sportsmanship & competition.

The rewards are many when you see a player that you have coached playing with their high school team or getting a chance to play at the next level. The hours you have invested over the years seem insignificant when you see your son or daughter playing ball & having fun.

These Diamond Dwellers deserve the opportunity to be rewarded for their efforts by scoring a suite at a Rockies game at Coors Field. Their dedication to teaching & supporting baseball programs at all levels should be rewarded. The travel costs to out of town tournaments, player fees, equipment & camps to stay competitive & sacrifices made to provide the opportunities for the kids should be recognized. Without the Diamond Dwellers in our communities baseball would not continue to be America's Greatest Pastime generation to generation.

With the financial & time commitment Diamond Dwellers contribute we could have season tickets to the Colorado Rockies. Most of us get to attend a few games a year at Coors Field with our kids by the group promotions the Rockies sponsor at our schools & Little Leagues. Giving 12 of us the ultimate reward of scoring a suite & having our dedication to the sport recognized would be incredible.
