I've lived in Denver since 1989 and many of my friends are 'transplants' like myself from different areas of the United States.
Through good times and bad, I've
always
been loyal to the Rockies and whenever I got seats near the field (not very often) I was one of the loudest fans giving them vocal support. I've sat through countless rain delays and I NEVER leave Coors Field until the last out no matter how many runs the Rockies are behind.
I grew up in San Diego and in my senior year in college, I even worked for the San Diego Padres, but you won't catch me wearing anything other than Rockies stuff as I'm no 'fair weather fan.' My friends for many years said, "Give up, the Rockies won't ever be a contender and your just wasting your time and money on a Loser!" Now that the Rockies are in the thick of things and a contender for the NL West crown, I would like to invite all those people who would only show up when 'their' team was in town and root for them instead of the Rockies and gloat for all nine innings as this Rockie team is making 'believers' out of a lot of people who have written them off as a triple A team masquerading as a major league team.
I would also take my four grandchildren and let them watch grown adults eat 'crow' as the Rockies have their best season EVER and take the NL West title. I bleed Rockies purple and I know that maybe someone would appreciate this as much as me, but NO ONE would appreciate this more than me and my grandkids! I would also fly my 85 year old Mother in from California and show her what a Rockies Mountain Baseball High is all about!
