Entrepreneurs have built our communities
Contributed by: DR. SEAN REIF D.C. on 10/10/2007

In most local areas, 3 or 4 entrepreneurs provide the creative force behind real estate development in their area. The role of these individuals cannot be minimized. These men and many more like them, are individual entrepreneurs with vision and imagination, who creatively marshal the necessary components of development into building projects that have changed the shape of their communities.

Most of these men have since done the same thing in other communities, thus creating an international community of real estate entrepreneurs who, either as individuals or as corporations, develop projects in cities throughout the world.

A strategy of local investment in small firms means strengthening the resistance of the local economy to cyclical phenomena. And it helps to promote community pride. Who knows? The trademark MADE IN NORTHGLENN, might someday become a world renowned badge of quality.

When prayers get mixed with lazy bones, they don't make farming pay. Your weeds, I notice, are good and tall, in spite of all your prayers. You may pray for corn till the heavens fall, if you don't dig up the tares. I mix my prayers with a little toil along every row, and I work theis mixture into the soil, quite virorous with a hoe, and I have discovered that this kind of compost, well workedin, makes pretty decent corn.

In Government planning, potential hazards are the reason for traffic regulations, codes concerning health and sanitation, building and safety, and zoning, environmental standards, flood plain insurance, and OSHA regulations. The level of risk that is safe enough is a matter of judgment, supported by calculations of the consequences of the negative development, event, or catastrophe. The “risk-benefit analysis” is regularly done to decide the advisability of insurance covering risks to property and people.
