COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERISM
Contributed by: DR. SEAN REIF D.C. on 3/29/2007

Volunteerism involves willingly committing time and effort over an extended period for socially desirable goals; Goodwill and understanding. Although volunteerism can take different forms, individuals usually choose to engage in activities that directly benefit their community. Volunteers are willing to participate in future community serving activities. Volunteers identify with the local community. And, also volunteers derive personal benefits such as self-esteem and new learning experiences.

The reality of community lies in its members' perception of the vitality of its culture." The community represents that to which we aspire, our hopes for the future. In a community, we all understand each other, and may trust what we hear, most of the time. Our duty is to help each other, and so is to expect that the help we will need will be forthcoming.

History is not made; it is in the making. We study the past that we may learn how to make the present BETTER. Great things have been accomplished but there is much yet to be done. The PIONEERS solved their problems, and if we are worthy of the state they have given us, we will strive to solve ours. We will keep alive the SPIRIT. The history is rich with a heritage that we must pass down to our children. We must not fail in the tasks put to us by our ancestors to carry on a tradition of pride in our STATE.
