"City of Thornton is building lake off my porch"
Contributed by: DR. SEAN REIF D.C. on 5/11/2007

To be finished in 2008, in the Thornton Multipurpose / Carpenter Open Space, The City of Thornton has plans for developing a series of retention ponds, to hold non-treated water from deep well aquifers to irrigate the Multipurpose Fields but also as a walking trail around the lake, while preserving the Wetlands area at 112th & Steele.

Many of our Homestead Home-owners will have lakefront property from which to enjoy the THORNTON fireworks at the Independence Day Celebration, Thorntonfest, and Winterfest. Many of our townhomes have standard oversized 2 car garage, gas fireplaces, insurance, and lawn and snowplow service. We are very proud of our HomesteadHOA community.

Some of our units are moderately priced.#53 just went up for $203,900 for 3 beds, 2 1/2 baths. All part of living in a quiet Home Owners Association for $115 a month. What a bonus when the City of Thornton plans to build an amenity to an already beautiful property and neighbors. I love this place.

I like walking around the lakes at night. It is so temperature cool, and the lights from the Multipurpose Fields and the illuminated Recreation Center is enough ambient light to see. The reflections of the lights across the water and the shapes of the bridges make every view like a picture postcard. Walking in the different directions creates a new experience every time. Last night, it was cold enough to see your breath. Sometimes, even to see wildlife enjoying the safety of this enclave.

May 17, 2008: They started filling the lake in preparation for the July 3 completion date. Looks to be some landscaping issues but they are moving efficiently, like they really know how to get things done, on time. There is an urgency about their work. Three cheers for Thornton: Hip Hip Hooray! Hip Hip Hooray! Hip Hip Hooray!
