Entrepreneurship is a process that creates an organization - a new business - in the pursuit of opportunity. Someone who perceives a business opportunity and assumes the risk of creating such an organization is an entrepreneur. Self development strategies involve the efforts of local organizations and include investment of local resources.
Communities may assist entrepreneurs by providing availability of support services: tax exemptions and procurement programs; training; positive public attitudes successful role models, information availability; venture financial assistance; and counseling and support services; as well as the infrastructure of transport and communication facilities.
Local leaders have a substantial role in developing the entrepreneurial environment. They seek to serve and improve the community rather than just promote their own personal goals. Such leaders stimulate community growth and development by providing opportunities to new entrepreneurs who have been successful in business and want to ensure the community's environment increases the probability of the success of new ventures. The should work to assist, inspire, develop their competencies, coordinate local assistance efforts, and develop links through networks to resources, suppliers, and markets.

Due to the progress of the chiropractic profession, our colleges, associations and individual CHIROPRAC-TORS, chiropractors are playing an ever increasing role in community leadership. As we increase our interaction and contribution to our local communities, we enhance the environments in which we live and work. We also expand our sphere of influence for sharing the chiropractic message and stimulate interest in the profession. Community service and leadership activities provide a powerful vehicle for every chiropractor to increase awareness and create understanding of our unique health care. “We have a unique opportunity to enhance both the perception of the profession and general understanding of the benefits of chiropractic care.
