Humbled to ask
Contributed by: DR. SEAN REIF D.C. on 2/20/2008

It is humbling to ask my friends, patients, colleagues, to stand by me, in my favor, to give mention of what is good and pure in my nature and character. But if I can't ask my friends, who can I ask? But,even if I am 1 against 9, I pity the 9.

I am being put before a hearing to see if I should be removed from the Northglenn City Planning Commission; an ecclesiastical trial to find me to be a heretic. I am fighting for the freedom to be an American. The right to attend meetings, to be informed, to make motions, to debate those motions, and to vote, with formal and standard procedures, and a right to stand in the minority, because I am an Uncommon Man.

Some may remember my days as President of the Northglenn - Thornton Rotary Club, on the Bully Pulpit. Our membership was declining, our projects lacked participation and youthful energy. And, we snapped out of it, with a younger man's vision.

When asked to step up, I have stepped up: Public Relations chair, membership chair, RYLA, Family of Rotary chair, Save Planet Earth chair, Youth Exchange officer, President Elect, Todd Helton Celebrity lunch, President, Past-President, District 5450 District World Community Service chairman (5 years), as well as the District Extension Committee that spawned the Denver Metro North club. I've cleaned the streets, distributed food, and dedicated Water features at Webster Lake as a product of District Simplified Grants. I've attended 3 District Conferences, 6 District training seminars, and 1 International Conference. All representing this Northglenn - Thornton Rotary Club.

Credibility is one of the hardest attributes to earn. And it is a fragile human quality. It is earned minute by minute, hour by hour, month by month, year by year. I have trusted you to be my leaders, my mentors. And I hope that you trust in me, in recognition and celebration of significant accomplishments. That I may be seen as being just, fair, and sincere, by challenging, inspiring, enabling, modeling, and encouraging.

I don't know who "they" are, but I know who I am. I am an American citizen. I am a Rotarian, chiropractor, family man. I am proud. I am dependable. I am committed (100% attendance). I give people what they need; not necessarily what they want, because that is what Good Doctors do. I am compassionate; I think of the rights and feelings of others rather than my own. My deed follows my words. This is important to me.

I care about our community or I wouldn't have joined the Commission in the first place. I put myself to a good cause. Who at best knows triumph of high achievement; but if I should fail, fail while daring greatly.

And if you can't attend the February 28 meeting at 7:00 in Northglenn City Council Chambers, please pray that I will stand strong as I defend myself against this persecution, so that I may be exonerated.

Thank you.
Dr. Sean Reif D.C.

The tarring and feathering should commence shortly after, but not if I have anything to say about it.
