Expatriation when becomes U.S. Citizen
Contributed by: DR. SEAN REIF D.C. on 6/22/2008

Expatriation is the voluntary renunciation or abandonment of nationality and allegiance. It is the loss of citizenship by voluntary action taken by a citizen. By expatriation, a citizen becomes an alien to her birth country; she divests herself of the obligations or citizenship and loses the rights connected with those obligations. When she declares herself person's naturalized in the United States, she must not continue allegiance to foreign governments.

Certain action taken by American citizens indicate a citizen's desire voluntarily expatriates herself. These actions include obtaining naturalization in a foreign country, taking an oath of allegiance to a foreign state, serving in a foreign army, voting in a foreign election, desertion from the armed forces of a foreign country, treason against the United States, assuming public office under the government of a foreign country for which only nationals of that Country are eligible, formal renunciation of citizenship either in the United States or abroad, and leaving or remaining outside the U.S. for the purpose of evading military service.

Doesn't if only make sense, that if you are going to live here, raise a family here, and conduct appreciable business in this country that if will be beneficial to all concerned to pledge allegiance to the United States of America?

Every alien should accept the gift of American Citizenship so that he may enjoy the benefits which the country offers: A naturalized citizen is protected in all his rights by the government, both home and abroad. He can share in the government through his vote. He can hold any office in the United States except that of the President and Vice President. It is our duty to help keep our city clean; be loyal to our City, State, Nation. We should respect the flag; we should obey the laws; we should accept jury duty when called to serve. Our country will become a better democracy when every citizen takes part in the government.
