Chiropractors DO NOT raise risk
Contributed by: DR. SEAN REIF D.C. on 5/17/2008

Past assumptions attempting to relate chiropractic care with certain types of strokes were not due to care, but rather to the fact that the people who went to a chiropractor and medical doctors with certain problems were slightly more likely to suffer this type of problem anyways. The association occurs because patients tend to seek care when they are having neck pains or headache, and sometimes they go to the Doctor of Chiropractic, sometimes they to too a Medical Doctor. But the increase in likeliness of the having these types of strokes is not likely.

If someone asks the question, "Has it EVER happened that a chiropractor has caused a stroke?"

A: It's not happening at a GREATER risk than when it is done in a General Practitioners office.

We have been exposed to the wonders of the human body. The structures that give and maintain life are a subject matter in our schools, from kindergarten through college. The chiropractor neither adds nor takes away any substances from the body. The body is a complex whole with infinite possibilities. The body is self-healing and self-regulating. And, interference with the nervous system compromises the body’s ability to self-heal and self-regulate. The philosophy of Chiropractic refers to the interference with the nervous system as a SUBLUXATION - and can be detected and corrected by a chiropractor.
