Is it so hard to live within our means?
Contributed by: DR. SEAN REIF D.C. on 6/16/2008

We are frustrated by the Northglenn City Council's lack of action when it comes to reducing spending. This lack of action will result in a tax increase. The budget is up from last year. We are paying again for our past sins. It is a time they need to take decisive action. We had a year of talk and nothing was done. These are difficult times and tough decisions must be made. This year Northglenn City residents are facing a tax increase and the Council should be embarrassed. City Council members should consolidate fragmented departments, have voluntary furloughs, involuntary furloughs, and layoffs for non-essential personnel. We must eliminate Kaiser health insurance coverage for part-time employees, including council members, and the Mayor Novak, future retired employees and active employees and active employees must contribute their fair share. We have to start living within our means and reduce our spending to stabilize taxes as we continue to encourage development to offset costs.
