Denver, Colorado, Monday, January 23,,2006 — Jake Plummer outbearded Ben Roethlisberger Sunday to lead the Broncos to a 28-24 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Plummer, who has harvested his scruffy, mountain man, 'I don't care what it looks like' beard since preseason, outplayed and outbearded Roethlisberger and his ‘I have a few facial hairs which kind of come together and look like a beard.”
Plummer attrbuted his play sunday to Jack Fisher of Northglenn who won playoff tickets from YourHub.com Northglenn hub.
"Jack is my kind of guy. He grows one heck of a wild man beard and he takes winning playoff tickets as serious as I take winning football games," Plummer said.
Roethlisberger stated, "My game play and my beard were just not up to Jake’s or that guy Jack Fisher. I have a lot to learn from both of them about winning football games and growing wild man beards."
Plummer will now take his team to the Super Bowl while Roethlisberger will meet with Robert Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots and Gillete to discuss the future of his beard.
Jack Fisher will spend the rest of the offseason letting his beard grow wild and enjoying the memories of a great AFC Championship game.
