Contributed by: Troy Garnhart on 1/13/2006

USAFA, Colo . – Gates at the Cadet Field House will open two hours prior to all men’s basketball home games for the remainder of the season beginning Jan. 14 to better accommodate fans. In addition, this weekend the ticket office in the Falcon Athletic Center will be open from 11 a.m. to noon while the ticket office in Clune Arena will open at noon.

“We want to make every effort to make our fans’ experience at the game as enjoyable as possible,” said Mike Saks, senior associate athletics director. “The demand for tickets is increasing and we want to accommodate fans that may want to arrive earlier to beat the crowds. We still encourage our fans to purchase tickets on-line at airforcesports.com, but we understand not everyone is able to do that.”

Saturday features a day full of athletic events at the Academy, highlighted by the men’s basketball game against TCU at 2 p.m. Other sporting events Saturday include the men’s gymnastics team hosting the Rocky Mountain Open in the Cadet Gymnasium at 1 p.m. and the hockey team hosting College Hockey America foe Niagara in the Cadet Ice Arena at 7 p.m..

The TCU game will feature a special reunion of past men’s basketball players and coaches, who will be honored at halftime. There are 50 former players and coaches scheduled to attend the game, including former All-American and Air Force general Bob Beckel, Don Wolfswinkel, team captain of Air Force’s first NCAA tournament team, basketball standout and Air Force general Butch Viccellio and former coach Reggie Minton.
