"Defense wins the day"

A stalwart, and steadfast, Highlanders defense led by a coordinated pack, picked-up opportunities lying on the table, at the Dick's Sporting Goods Park, Saturday, September 26 in a heated rugby battle between cross-town rivals Denver Highlanders and the Denver Barbarians.

After repeated opportunistic kicks for touch, returning possession and field position, together with quick hands, getting the "pill" to the skilled positions, Timmy, Taylor, Leif; with the insert of fullback Andy into at mix that leaves, more combinations to find the open spaces wingers; skilled kicking for an element of creativity. Everyone was putting the hits in.

The newly-melded Denver Highlanders RFC 40 years tradition (Division 1) with the Queen City RFC (Division II) comradre and community pride and skilled/ coaching/ leadership forms the Denver Rugby Football Club; which put on an inaugural thumping on the Denver Barbarians 58- 0.

"The boys looked like they were having fun just, doing their jobs. Everybody has even the smallest job to do, it was getting' the jobs done. The efficiency of the dispatch was brilliant."
