The La Furia synchronized skating teams are proud to announce their Pre-juvenile group took the gold medal at the January 19 th Ice Skating Institute competition at the FamilySportsCenter in Centennial, Colorado.
The team went toepicks-to-toepicks with the South Suburban Stars, a team from Centennial. Both teams skated well, but La Furia took home the gold.
Team coaches Jamy Wetzel Little and Debbie Minter are very proud of the kids. Little says of the team, "They not only worked hard to put this program together, but also on their overall skating. I think these two factors were critical to the win."
The members of the Pre-juvenile team are: Hannah Carande, Audrianna Fabrizio, Elizabeth Harold, Emilie Harold, Kristion Major, Maddie Noles, Shannon Rudolph, Ande Schamaun, Dana Speiser, Amanda Vongphachanh, Evan Walter.
La Furia has the largest synchro program in the area, with six teams and an affiliation with the CU collegiate team. La Furia's home base is the beautiful Ice Centre at the Promenade in Westminster, part of the HylandHillsPark and Recreation District. Their teams range from Pre-juvenile to Adult Masters, and there are open teams as well that have fewer restrictions. The synchro teams are planning their tryout dates now, so check out their website at www.lafuriasynchro.com for more information on the teams.
In addition to the La Furia teams, the Ice Centre has a large selection of instruction programs. There are three ice surfaces at the Centre, and classes ranging from hockey to figure skating with some of Colorado's finest coaches. While you're there, check out the pro shop and make a stop at the snack bar or stop in to Jackson's for a full sized meal.
