Communication is powerful. How that power is exercised rests with the person who uses it. Knowledge is powerful. Men who understand the powerful techniques can use them toward legitimate ends. They can also recognize when such techniques are used by men who will win at any cost. The sword can be used to both attack and defend.
It is my intention to learn the communication principles and techniques to improve my skills for the proper and ethical representation of my patients, the advancement of my profession, and the public good.
What you intend to communicate is one thing; what the people understand is often something different. Insight is not enough. People who succeed are those who have the courage and perseverance to practice and perfect successful techniques. The more I increase and refine my skills, the more I create trust, confidence, and rapport with others.
Confidence and sincerity are important qualities to convey and the use of voice can help to present these qualities. The ability of the voice to convey images and drama, joined with facial expressions and gestures, can be an extremely valuable tool of persuasion.
So I really thank you for your time here today. I thank you in advance for the time you are going to spend on this endeavor, because it is going to be an important thing you are going to do in your life.

Rotary has enabled me to discover the world, and have very good friends. It has also taught me to be proud of my differences: a different culture, a different religion and a different way of life. Rotary has taught me tolerance and meeting so many people form completely different horizons could only reinforce the natural feeling I have to strive for peace and a better world.
