Northglenn has become better than a reality TV series. The first time I spoke out was my witnessed opinion and the truth behind why Northglenn lost our City Manager in June. This now has become a reality mini-series.
Since the untimely and controversial departure of our former City Manager, there has been a parade of departures from the city's leadership, some due in part (to be fair) to better job offers. But, don't discount the coincidence of sheer numbers. Northglenn has currently NO City Manager, NO Acting City Manager (resigned effective October 17th), NO Director of Public Works, NO City Clerk, NO Director of Finance, NO Director of Parks and Recreation, and NO city engineer (more on that item later). To ice the cake that flopped in the oven, we also have 13, soon to be 14 police officer vacancies (20%). If it wasn't for the incredible, skilled, talented and loyal staff that the city has left, I don't know if this situation would be able to work. I thank them for holding the city together. According to a staff member recently, "the bleeding hasn't stopped", meaning many staff are looking elsewhere.
Anything wrong? Normal turnover ? I think not. Since this current council majority (Wieneke, Paiz, Clyne, Baker and Miller) have been in charge, there has been tension and unrest in the city's staff, mostly because of the instability they've created in the city, intrusion into their work, stunting of their creativity, and lack of trust. This council majority is ruining the city, starting first with the staff. The next step they take will be to tell you that the city is dying financially. Lord only knows what they'll do about that one.
By the way, read carefully, or save for future reference, the open letter to Northglenn citizens from John O'Hayre, North Metro Fire District Chief in the October 2nd Your Hub published insert (inside the last page). He's pointing out a few serious issues about our ill-fated recreation center. Pay close attention to what this council majority will do to circumvent the life safety and fire code violations that currently exist.
I'm sure the personal vendettas from this council majority and their supporters toward me and any volunteer organization I belong to will be evident because I choose to speak out, starting with the comments to this posting. I expect that, but I think citizens of Northglenn need to know what's going on, so I'll keep you all updated anyway.
